The Franchise

Franchise logos

The Quebec major Junior Hockey League came to existence in 1969. Eleven clubs were part of this upstart league. One of the teams was the Rosemont National. The franchise moved after three years to become the Laval National. Even though the club is competitive, it does not win a QMJHL championship.

In 1979-80, the club is renamed the Laval Voisins for the next 6 seasons. In this time, a young superstar named Mario Lemieux brings a first QMJHL championship in 1983-84.

In 1985-86, the club becomes the Laval Titan and Quebec junior hockey fans will soon take note. The Titan wins three QMJHL championships in the next eight years in a Laval Colisée that is appropriately nicknamed the "House of Pain". For all other QMJHL teams, a game in Laval is far from restful. In 1994-95, the club becomes the Laval Collège-Français Titan for the next four years.

In 1998-99, the franchise moves to Bathurst and becomes the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. In its' first season it wins the President's Cup.

Many marquee players wore the franchise colors since its' inception. No less than 84 eventually played in the National Hockey League.
